Remembering Olympic Year

A London illustrator has captured the excitement of Olympic Year in Hethersett.

Alice Pattullo was commissioned by her grandfather Frank Wroth, who has lived in Hethersett for over 50 years, to produce an illustrated poster to commemorate this year’s village Olympic celebrations.

Alice is an illustrator and printmaker based in London who graduated from Brighton University with a first in Illustration. She has exhibited in London, Manchester and Brighton and her limited edition prints are sold at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Saatchistore and The Big Draw Shop.

She captured the unique excitement of Olympic Year in Hethersett with a large poster/mural featuring events from the village's 2012 open weekend in June along with the visit of the official Olympic flame in July. The artwork also features village landmarks including the Hethersett sign.

The original work of art will be hung in the lobby of Hethersett Library. Prints of the work will be on sale at the village’s Christmas Market in Hethersett Methodist Church on November 30th with proceeds going to the Hethersett Olympic Legacy Fund.

“Alice has produced a brilliant interpretation of a momentous year for the village of Hethersett. We are most appreciative that she was able to take time out from her busy schedule to unveil the mural following the recent exhibition of her work at the V and A,” said chair of Hethersett Olympic Legacy Committee and Hethersett Parish Councillor Shane Hull.

The Olympic Legacy Committee has replaced Hethersett Olympic Committee but will continue with much of the same work including organising and overseeing the Hethersett Open Weekend of events which will take place from July 5th to 7th next year.

“I am confident that Hethersett will go from strength to strength in 2013 and beyond and create a lasting sporting legacy for many years to come,” Shane Hull said.
