Resident and Leading WI Light - We
were saddened to hear of the death on boxing day of leading
Norfolk WI figure Pat Bond. An appreciation of her life appeared

School Science Evening - The
science of food was on the agenda as Hethersett High
School and Science College held its eighth open evening.

a Crowd - Hethersett
Tree Wardens Colin Ward and Anne Edwards have been busy

| Santa Came
Too - The
true atmosphere of Christmas was conjured up at Colney
Hall when Father Christmas paid a fleeting visit to meet
children ahead of the big day. The annual event was
organised by Little Melton Church and there were plenty
of refreshments on hand to fight off a cold but crisp
day. Santa was supported by a host of helpers including
Mother Christmas and those present were able to learn
about the real message of Christmas on special handouts.
Father Christmas met the youngsters in a special natural
grotto in the grounds of the hall.

for Poppy Appeal - The
annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Hethersett
is back on track with a new co-ordinator at the helm. To

Hethersett Footballers
turn Giantkillers - Hethersett
Athletic's new Saturday football team is enjoying the
aftermath of a Giantkilling. Crown Fire South and
Central Norfolk League Division Four side Hethersett
turned the formbook upside down when they beat unbeaten
Division One side Mulbarton Wanderers in the Ben Smith

Car
Park Closed Over Christmas - The
car park at Hethersett Village Hall will be closed and
locked over Christmas from 4 p.m on Christmas Eve until
27th December. “We
are looking to keep recycling facilities tidy over the
busy festive season by asking the public to take
cardboard boxes and plastic bags home for disposal as
household waste and not to leave bottles in the
recycling compound if the glass banks are full,” said
secretary of the village hall management committee Fred
Watkins.
Green Results - Householders
in Hethersett are being surveyed to see how green they
have been in 2008 and to find out how they rate the work

No Cold Callers Here -
A road in the village has declared itself a cold call
free zone. Residents of Howes Close have been
working together with Trading Standards and the local
police safer neighbourhood team to declare that they no
longer wish to accept visits from traders calling at
their homes without an appointment. Signs to this effect
have been placed at the entrance to the road
Volunteers Needed -
Hethersett Parish Council is looking for volunteers to
join a community emergency group and also the local Road

Pre-Christmas
Market - A pre-Christmas
market is being held in Hethersett Methodist Church on 12th
December from 7 until 9 p.m. To read about this click

Christmas
Library Events - Hethersett
Library is gearing up for a busy pre-Christmas period. Saturday
6th December sees youngsters being given the chance
to meet a well known book character in a Where’s Wally hour
from 11.30 a.m until 12.30 p.m. There will be quizzes,
wordsearches and other challenges. On Saturday 20th
December, the library will be combining with Norfolk Family
Learning from 10.30 a.m until noon for a Creative Christmas
Crafts morning. Children attending this event must be
accompanied by an adult. Booking is essential for both events on

Park
and Ride Extended - The
Thickthorn Park and Ride will be running an extended service
