Top of the League - Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club strengthened their position at the top of Norfolk League Division One with a comfortable victory over Rollesby. With five matches to go the club are favourites to step up into the Nofolk Alliance, but still have some difficult matches ahead. To see all the club's results for the season click here.
A Taste of Italy - Interested in learning Italian? Hethersett High School and Science College is hoping to hold beginners' Italian lessons in the autumn. There will be a free taster and registration evening on 25th September. To read about this see a special poster in pdf format by clicking here.

For the Air Ambulance - Not only did the bi-ennial performance at Norwich Theatre Royal by the Hethersett based Yvonne School of Dance provide excellent entertainment, it also raised over £900 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. A bucket collection was taken after the two performances of Bright Lights of Broadway and raised £937.87p. Two years ago a similar collection raised over £600 for the British Heart Foundation.

win Under-16 Triangular Tournament -
Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club won the first Under-16s
20-20 triangular tournament held at their Flordon Headquarters.
Hethersett beat Great Ellingham in the final, having already

Woodcote Fete 2008 - Woodcote's sixth annual fete takes place at the Firs Road Sheltered Housing complex this Saturday (July 12th) from 2 p.m. To read about the event click here.
Step Into Summer - Hethersett will be swinging into summer with an evening of entertainment with a jazz feel to it in St Remigius Church on Friday (11th July) from 7.30 until 10.30 p.m. Jazz and swing music will be on the agenda, led by John Wood on saxophone. The evening will also include a buffet supper with wine.
Sea, Sand and Fun - The start of the school holidays will be filled with thoughts of sea, sand and sun as Hethersett Library prepares youngsters for the summer break. The “Sea, sand and sun – Get ready for the holidays” events will provide an afternoon of songs, stories, postcard, passport and collage making for children aged seven and under and is being organised jointly by Norfolk Library Service and the Norfolk Family Learning Programme. The afternoon at Hethersett Library will take place on Tuesday 29th July from 2 until 3.30 p.m Places can be booked by telephoning 01603 810188. Chop for Diseased Trees - A number of diseased trees in the vicinity of Hethersett Parish Church have been felled. The problem was brought to light when a tree on the south side of the church collapsed and had to be removed. Further investigation by experts showed that this and others were diseased and had to be removed. News in Brief - To read smaller news items from the village in July click here Musical Notes - Children from Hethersett performed at a concert in the Village Hall and raised £150.85 for the Norfolk Charity Musical Keys which provides music for children with special needs. The young pianists taking part were all pupils of piano teacher Rachel Barrett.
Tennis Champ - Hethersett tennis player Harry Weeds has won the under-14 competition in the Norwich section of the Lawn Tennis Association Road to Wimbledon tournament.
