Ben's Hat-Trick

Jet setting Hethersett tenor Benjamin Lake (pictured above outside Hethersett Queen's Head) has lined-up another concert in the village.

Benjamin has been globetrotting since his last appearance at Hethersett Village Hall in 2009, but will be taking time out from a hectic schedule to return to his home venue on Sunday 7th November for his third annual solo concert.

It has been a very busy year for the singer who has already toured Cyprus, the Balearics and Spain after spending two weeks at the beginning of the year in Canada before moving onto Dubai in a new show entitled Broadway.

This month sees him in Madeira and then Sorento and the day after his Hethersett show he is off to Istanbul for two weeks to perform with his friends The 12 Tenors.

Benjamin admits that his musical outlook has changed somewhat:

“I am very comfortable these days not labelling myself to a particular genre such as opera or musicals. I have found that most of my audiences like a variety of styles from ballads to opera and musicals to jazz. So I try to entertain within my shows and give the audience the sort of music they want to hear.

“This will be my third concert in Hethersett and I think it will be the best one yet,” he said.

Benjamin has also been booked to appear at the New Year’s Day concert in St Andrew’s Hall, Norwich, and also at next year’s summer proms event at Taverham.

Despite being a Londoner, Benjamin admits that he is now a Norfolk boy at heart. “I have really adjusted to the pace of life in Norfolk and I now feel this is my home,” he added.

Benjamin also has a double cause for celebration with a new album The Best Of now available and a new baby daughter Lottie who was born in September. The Hethersett Village Hall concert starts at 3 p.m and tickets are £10 and can be booked on 01953 605798. More news from Benjamin is also available on his web site at www.benjaminlake.com
