Pre-Christmas Market in Hethersett

A pre-Christmas community event is being lined-up in Hethersett.

The Christmas Charity Market will be held at Hethersett Methodist Church on Friday 12th December from 7 p.m until 9 p.m and a number of organisations have already been lined-up including the British Heart Foundation, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Woodside Infants School, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Operation Christmas Child, Hope and Homes for Children, the Church of England and Hethersett Society. The event is being sponsored by R. J. Litten and Partners of Eaton.

The event is being organised by a number of people including South Norfolk Distirct Councillor Leslie Dale and Hethersett’s Methoidst Minister, the Rev Derek Grimshaw.

It is also being supported by St Remigius Church, Hethersett, and the evening will include carol singing. Refreshments including non alcoholic punch will also be available.

There is still room for more charities to take part in the event. Anybody interested should contact Leslie Dale on 01603 813426

Proposed Christmas Event - We are pleased to reproduce a letter from South Norfolk District Councillor Leslie Dale to organisations in the village regarding the proposed pre-Christmas village event. We will keep you informed of progress on any possible event.

AN EVENING CHRISTMAS CHARITY EVENT IN HETHERSETT?

Dear

A chain of events, connected with my summer fete proposal, has resulted in H.P. Cllr. Heather Williamson suggesting that we organise an evening carol/charity event.

What is envisaged is Charity sales tables, I hope to locate a “Lions” type of mobile Xmas tree and hopefully there will be some Carolling toward the end as well; 2 hours maximum.

Currently I am speaking with the Methodist Church representatives whose car park can be annexed and whose lighting can probably be arranged to be “ON”, as indeed the new security light definitely is. The other advantage of this venue is the ability to retreat to the Hall and Church should weather turn against an outdoor happening.

The evening which is convenient to the Methodist Hall/Church is Friday 12th December; giving time to anyone buying gifts or cards to wrap and post.

Ground rules for anyone attending are simply, “NO ALCOHOL“.

If your group felt that it would like to participate

THEN PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH ME ASAP.

Currently the only serious obstacle to be overcome is that of arranging Liability Insurance and at what cost; I could not rule out asking for donations toward covering this. The Church’s insurance is limited to “customers”. I will need to investigate the cost of buying separate insurance for the event and then discussing with the Church; OR we could limit the event to only those Charities/Societies with their own insurance.

You may be aware that I am one of the 2 District Councillors for Hethersett, however I wish to emphasise that this initiative in no way commits the SNDC to assist.

Yours sincerely

Leslie Dale
