Library Craft Day
Members
of the public were given the chance to celebrate a whole host of pastimes in a
special Celebration of Crafts morning at Hethersett Library. Hobbies
as diverse as knitting, crocheting, model making and Meccano were on display
in one of the most successful events held at the venue. The
library was filled throughout the session by people of all ages keen to try
their hands at new skills that also included rug and lace making and
patchwork. “It
was great to see so many people of all ages having a go at traditional crafts
and it was also good to see such a wide range of crafts represented. “We
know that there are numerous craft groups in the village and it was good to be
able to bring many of them together,” said community librarian Ben Miller
after being shown the basics of lace making by Dorothy Miller (no relation). Such
was the success of the morning that the library is looking into the
possibility of setting up a regular monthly craft group.
