Cricketers Triumph Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club, who are already leading Division Four of the Norwich League, won the Ken Ottaway 20-20 Trophy at Postwick on July 28th in a nail-biting finale. John Lewis batted first and amassed 136-9 in their 20 overs with all the Hethersett bowlers doing well to limit the opposition to under seven runs an over. Hethersett started solidly in their reply but began to lose wickets at steady intervals before Matt Ellis steadied the ship before being stumped. An aggressive innings by Matt Steward brought the total back on target with Hethersett needing six runs off the last over. The excitement grew with Hethersett needing one off the last ball to tie and two to win. The batsman missed, but so did the wicketkeeper and the ball ran through for four byes and victory for Hethersett. |
