Poetry Among the Books Poet and former restaurateur David Mason delighted an audience at Hethersett Library on October 8th with an evening proving beyond doubt that poetry can be fun. David's great charisma and charm shone through as he performed poetry from both published and unpublished sources and it was all his own work. Under the loose theme of "food" former Liverpudlian David treads in the footsteps of poets like Roger McGough with the onus on entertainment. A number of years ago, David owned the Ludham restaurant Al Fresco. Today he is a full-time writer and poet, working with children in Norfolk schools and also further afield. His poetry has the common touch, using everyday people and situations for his inspiration and also acting as a commentary on modern life. But underneath all the wit is a serious writer, chronicling the way we are. All this and more shone through at Hethersett. David's Inspire to Write courses for children has its own web site which can be accessed by clicking here. David can also be e-mailed by clicking here |
