Success for Fireworks Event Hethersett’s
first ever community firework spectacular has been heralded a success. Over
600 attended the event in the grounds of Hethersett High School organised by
Hethersett Athletic Football Club. “It
was our intention for this to be an event for the whole community and we were
delighted with the response from families and local people. A number of local
groups including Cringleford Scouts, Hethersett High School, Hethersett Junior
School, Hethersett Athletic Football Club and Hethersett Social Club, took the
opportunity to get involved and raise funds,” said Hethersett Athletic
chairman Peter Steward. The
evening included a fireworks display aimed at younger children, followed by a
main display for all the family. There was also a story telling tent, face
painting, a barbecue and refreshments and sale of luminous gadgets. “We
were very heartened after the event to receive positive comments from people
who wanted more similar community events,” Peter Steward added. Thanks
to the success of the evening, the football club is looking at repeating it in
2010 with even more community groups becoming involved. The event was
supported by a number of sponsors including Gladedale (Anglia) Ltd, Anglian
Demolition and Asbestos Ltd, Hugh J. Boswell, Trell Contractors (Watton) Ltd,
Warburtons Bakery, RS Signs
