Thorpe Take Fives

A team from Thorpe Ladies won the Hethersett Athletic Women's five-a-side tournament held on the Memorial Playing Field as part of the Olympic 2012 celebration open weekend.

Eighteen teams from Hethersett, Bunwell, Thorpe, Wallton (Hertfordshire), Aylsham, Bungay, Freethorpe, Wymondham, Coltishall, Sprowston and Hockering took part in the competition held on four five-a-side pitches.

The opening rounds were divided into three divisions, with six teams in each. The top two and the best two third placed clubs went through to the knockout quarter-final stages.

The presentations to the winners and runners-up were made by County FA's Stuart Dracup who also presented East Anglian Championship medals to two Hethersett players who last season were regulars in the Norfolk team - Emily Coates and Emma Mulley.
