Lion Flossers

When it comes to flossing there is no group better than Hethersett and District Lions Club.

The summer is almost here and Lions will be out at numerous events with their candy floss machine, raising funds for local and national charities.

The group’s “summer activity” follows close on the heels of their winter fund-raisers which sees them take over the car park of Moneyfacts in Thorpe Road on Norwich City home games:

“Our season of helping Norwich City fans is over once again.  Thanks to the generosity of Moneyfacts of Norwich, we have raised in excess of £4,400 by charging fans for the use of their office car park on home match days.  As a club we are more than happy to support Moneyfacts' chosen charity for this year and will be making a donation to BREAK in the near future.  We will be using the car park to raise funds again next season.

”Now that the football is over the 'flossie' season has once again begun.  Hethersett District Lions are once again involved in the delicate art of candy floss making, supporting local organisations at fêtes and other events.  We have already attended the Hethersett Junior School fete where, in spite of the inclement weather, we made 185 bags of candy floss and were able to make a donation to the PTA to support their fund raising efforts,” said club president Alistair Mackie.

It’s not all fund-raising for the group, however, as members recently enjoyed a trip to the dogs for greyhound racing at Great Yarmouth.  The club is always on the lookout for new members.
