Friends Needed

Hethersett High School is looking for parents to become more involved with the school by taking an active part in the Friends group.

School business manager Richard Cole explains the situation:

"Parents of students still at the school are automatically members of Friends of Hethersett High. We need a couple of parents to join the committee this is not a difficult or time consuming task with a meeting once every term. Friends has raised many thousands of pounds for the school over the years and if you are willing to contribute a little time to keep this going then Id like to hear from you. Please email me by clicking here.

Committee members undertake the following tasks at their meetings:

Decide which request for support (received from teaching departments) are approved for funding

Decide which events will be run to raise money for the fund and then organise and run the events

Carry out the monthly 100 club draw

We have also set up a new Friends of Hethersett High Past Pupils Group.Over the past years the Friends of Hethersett High (FoHHS) have held social and fundraising events which have helped to create the community of Hethersett High School. This year (2011-12) the school is setting up an Alumni Association as part of the Friends group. The Alumni is open to all former pupils, and the first stage is to enrol as many former students as possible. Already over 50 people have enrolled and we would of course like to increase this number. The Alumni will aim to organise an occasional social gathering, issue a newsletter and invite former students to participate in fundraising events that the school organises.

To enrol, simply email me by clicking here with your name, address, phone number and the year you finished high school.

As the number builds up we will seek people to help organise the committee and from that point be up and running. The Alumni will sit within the formal structure that is the Friends of Hethersett High ensuring charitable status for the Alumni. If you have any questions please contact me at the email address shown above.
