Green Autumn Ahead It will be a green
autumn for the village of Hethersett. An active summer of
environmental work, which saw the distribution of eco friendly bags and also
praise for the village’s work on environmental issues from judges in the
Pride of Norfolk competition, is giving way to a full programme of events over
the coming months. The green village
working party will continue looking at green issues with its next meeting on 8th
October when it will discuss future action. Meanwhile Hethersett Parish
Council will be including a questionnaire in its next newsletter aimed at
establishing what action has been taken by local people to reduce their carbon
footprints. Hethersett
Environmental Action Team (HEAT) will be leading another village litter pick
on Saturday 27th September at 10 a.m when volunteers are welcome to
help with all equipment provided. The next meeting of HEAT will take place in
Hethersett Methodist Church on 1st October at 8 p.m. Thursday 16th
October has been designated “No Plastic Bag Day” in the village when local
businesses are joining together in not issuing plastic bags. Leading
Hethersett environmentalist George Beckford is urging shoppers to use the
cloth bags already provided to every household. Looking further ahead
the village will once again be hosting an open gardens Sunday in 2009 on 5th
July. Ten days later the annual presentation evening for prize-winners will be
held. |
