Green Information Day
Hethersett Library was a font of information on green
issues and energy saving at a special Saturday morning information day. Members of the Hethersett Environmental Action Team
(HEAT) and the Energy Saving Trust were on hand to staff a display giving
information on energy conservation. The groups have recently combined to put together a
home energy survey which has been distributed throughout the village and
which it is hoped will give information on energy use as Hethersett sets
out to both cut its carbon footprint and become an energy efficient
village. “We would like to encourage people of Hethersett to
think green and conserve energy. This will not only improve the
environment but save them money on household energy bills. Events like the
information day gives us the chance to spread the word,” said leading
member of HEAT Dr Anne Edwards. “We are absolutely delighted to be involved with
the work of such an active group as HEAT and together we will be exploring
ways of moving energy saving forward. We have already had a number of
survey forms returned and this will give us the opportunity to assess the
current situation in Hethersett,” said Phil Spiby, marketing manager for
the Energy Saving Trust. Copies of the survey forms are available on-line at www.energysavingtrust.org.uk and a freephone advice line is also in operation on 0800 512 012 where advisers are available to answer energy related questions.
