Dressing Down for Haiti
Caring pupils from
Hethersett High School dressed down for the day and raised over £1,200
for Haiti disaster relief work. Youngsters were so
moved by images from the Haiti Earthquake that they paid for a non uniform
day. Not content with that, a number of pupils also went round collecting
small change in buckets at the end of the day. A total of £1,240 was
raised and has been sent to the UNICEF Haiti Appeal Fund. “We were all
very upset when we saw and heard the news on television and wanted to do
something to help,” said 13-year-olds Lizzie Sturman and Sophie Rock who
took part in the bucket collection. The school won’t
be resting on its laurels, however, as it already has a jeans for genes
day planned where pupils will again dress down to raise funds for research
into genetic diseases. In addition a pre-Easter sports activities event
will raise funds for Sports Relief. Our photograph shows pupils Lizzie Sturman and Sophie Rock with teaching assistant Angi Rance.
