It was gold all the way for Hethersett resident Katherine Russell in the MENCAP/Gateway team which travelled to Geneva for a seven nation European Swimming Gala.

Katherine took gold in all three of her individual races at 50metres freestyle, 50metres breaststroke and 25 metres backstroke.

She also gained a silver in the 4x25 freestyle relay.

Teams from Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Austria and the United Kingdom took part in the event staged by the Schroumpf's Sporting Association of Geneva.

Katherine was sponsored by Waitrose of Wymondham. She is a member of the Breckland Special Olympic Swimming Group who train at Wymondham Leisure Centre.
