Games of Olde

Youngsters at Hethersett Library enjoying a game of bagatelle.

The years were rolled back at Hethersett Library as youngsters of all ages enjoyed games and pastimes with the emphasis on the past.

The special morning event attracted both the young and the young at heart as some experienced games of yesteryear for the first time and others relived happy childhood memories.

There was a slightly new twist to some of the games with Shove Ha’penny becoming Shove Twopence. Elsewhere youngsters were introduced to old style bagatelle, hoop la, yo yos, tops, tiddlywinks and pick up sticks.

The morning proved a great success with a steady stream of people playing parlour games and amusements from by-gone days. The special event was part of Norfolk History Month
