May News in Brief Aspiring Artists Hethersett’s Aspiring
Artists group held its sixth annual exhibition in the village hall. Over the past six years the
group has gone from strength to strength and now boasts over 30 members
working in a variety of mediums. The group meets on Thursdays,
usually in Hethersett Village Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. but also paints at outdoor
venues as well. There was a great variety of
subjects for this year’s exhibition including portraits, still life,
landscapes, seascapes and even a members’ competition under the heading
“All at Sea.” Places featured in paintings ranged from the close at home – Cromer Beach and Cringleford Bridge – to the wider world with scenic paintings of Venice. The paintings also reflected the seasons from Winter through to summer and subjects as diverse as aircraft and dormice. Genealogy Time Members of the public with an
interest in genealogy will be able to enjoy a free introductory talk from
Norfolk Record Office at Hethersett Library on May 12th. Booking is essential for the presentation on “Tracing Your Family Tree” which will take place from 2 p.m to 3 p.m. Places can be booked on 01603 810188. Murder at the WI A seemingly ordinary evening
at the WI will take a nasty turn when Hethersett Players drama group present a
murder mystery evening for three nights from June 25th to June 27th. Tickets are on sale for the
production of Claire Jones’ More Deadly Than at Hethersett Village Hall. The
audience will be asked to work out the identity of the murderer through clues
delivered during the performance. Tables for up to eight people can be booked on Norwich 810593 or by e-mail on players2004@hethersettplayers.co.uk. Tickets are £10 which includes a fish and chip supper.
