Sponsor a Hymn Book

Members of Hethersett Methodist Church are being asked to sponsor a new hymn book.

“Singing the Faith” is due to be published in September and will be the first new Methodist Hymn Book for almost 30 years, containing over 850 hymns, both ancient and modern and designed to take the place of the current Hymns and Psalms and Mission Praise books.

“We would like to offer everyone the opportunity to sponsor a new hymn book and we will be one of the first churches to use it. Perhaps people would like to sponsor in the memory of a loved one or past church member or to commemorate an event or anniversary. Sponsored books can be inscribed with a message,” said Methodist Minister the Rev Derek Grimshaw.

Three different editions are available for sponsorship – the Standard Works edition at £7.50, the large print edition at £12.50 or the full music edition at £25.

Meanwhile facilities at the church are being improved with a new kitchen being fitted in August.

Leading farmer, journalist and church member David Richardson spoke to the church’s men’s breakfast about the ongoing problems of population explosion and food shortage and Jon Larner spoke to the ladies breakfast about his career as a physiotherapist and his faith.
