At the Turn of the Century I wanted to mark the new millennium at Hethersett by giving a flavour of the village at that time. I did this in two ways: From December 1998 until September 1999 I kept a diary aimed at reflecting village life at the end of the 20th Century. This diary has now been split into four files in chronological order. There is also an introduction by way of explanation. Just click on the links below to read the contents.
Secondly I marked the period from January 2000 to March 2202 by including news items from throughout the village. I hoped that this would give another reflection of the village and in more reported way than my own personal reflections. I hope that together the two areas paint a reasonably vivid picture of Hethersett at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century.
