Norfolk League Division One - Home to Aldborough - Won by 122 runs A fine all round team
performance saw Hethersett and Tas Valley see off the challenge of close
rivals Aldborough in the Norfolk League Division One by a massive 122 run
margin. Hethersett were on
form with both the bat and ball, with their opponents unable or unwilling to
chase a target of just under 250. Hethersett won the
toss and elected to bat as they went in search of maximum points to keep
themselves top of Division One. In form batsmen Tim Shelley (76) and Matt
Ellis (56) built a solid foundation for a late onslaught with a century
partnership for the second wicket. Then Matt Steward crashed three sixes and a
four in a rapid fire 38 that helped Hethersett to 245 all out with just over
an over remaining. Aldborough never took
up the challenge with opener Ged Cooper labouring for 23 runs from the opening
24 overs and most of the other batsmen intent on not losing their wicket. The
result was a score of 123-8 from their 45 overs. The only threat to a
Hethersett victory came from rain clouds that loomed large throughout the day
but held off apart from a brief 10 minute break. Hethersett’s bowlers
were on top form with the pacey Dave Cosford leading the way with a hostile
spell that brought him 1-23 from 11 overs. Lee King took 2-35 spinner Assad
Abbas 2-36 and Matt Steward completed a fine all round performance with 2-13
from eight overs. Hethersett and Tas Valley beat Aldborough by 122 runs in the Norfolk League Division One. Hethersett and Tas Valley -
