Norfolk League Division One - home to Rollesby It’s four wins
out of four as Hethersett and Tas Valley continue to live the high life at
the Norfolk League summit. On Saturday they
took on Rollesby in Division One. Last season Rollesby inflicted a rare
and shock home defeat on Hethersett as both teams gained promotion to the
top division. This time there
were no slip ups from the table topping home side as they put their
struggling bottom of the table opponents to the sword. The contrasting
fortunes of the two clubs this season was soon evident as Rollesby won the
toss and elected to bat and then struggled to score 108 all out in 36.2
overs. Tormentor in chief was once again Matt Steward who last season took
11 wickets in two matches against Rollesby. This time his figures were
4-21 from eight overs. He was well backed up by spinner Asad Abbas with
3-18. Hethersett made
short work of reaching their target despite losing opener Richard Ellis
Junior for a duck in the first over. Tim Shelley hit a solid unbeaten 49
and, in partnership with Matthew Ellis, took his side to the verge of
victory before Ellis fell just two runs short of what would have been his
fourth consecutive half century. Simon Redhead
joined Shelley and hit the winning runs with a straight six to see
Hethersett home by eight wickets with more than 25 overs still to go Hethersett and Tas
Valley thirds made it a hat-trick of Norfolk League wins by beating Hales
Thirds by 127 runs in Division 10. Hethersett batted
first and scored an impressive 276 all out with Ross Jones hitting 78,
Chris Bolderstone 43 and Stephen Hayes 43. They then bowled Hales out for
149 with Alex Reeder taking 3-34 and Tom Brandon Street, usually better
known as an emerging young batsman, taking 5-23. Hethersett and Tas Valley beat Rollesby by eight wickets in the Norfolk League Division One.
