Excellent Report The
children at a Hethersett school have been praised for their healthy
lifestyles. In
the latest report by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted),
Hethersett Junior School is rated overall as good with several areas rated as
outstanding. The
outstanding areas include the children’s knowledge and practice of healthy
lifestyles and their involvement in the wider community. Inspectors also
highlighted the caring and nurturing atmosphere at the school. In
a letter to pupils lead inspector Karen Heath thanks the children for making
the inspectors “so welcome.” “I
agree with you that Hethersett is a good school where you feel safe and learn
many skills which will prepare you for later life. We were very impressed with
your good behaviour,” she states. The Inspectors were
particularly impressed by the schools EcoClub.
The Headteacher and Senior Staff were praised for their vision and
passion and Governors were commended for their support and monitoring, much of
which is behind the scenes. Chair
of governors Dr Fiona Doonan welcomed the report: “The
two day inspection team was very thorough in its remit, interviewing pupils,
parents, Headteacher, staff (teaching and non-teaching) and governors.
As the Lead Inspector said ‘ it was like turning over stones on a
beach, there were more layers of evidence of a good school everywhere we
looked.’ The children were
enthusiastic to show the inspectors how much they enjoy their school and all
the extension activities they take part in. ‘I am pleased that the
continued improvement of the provision made for children in the school has
been recognised by Ofsted. The school’s drive is to make our ‘good’
school even better.” The full report is
