Olde English Fayre
Hethersett
will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with an Olde English Jubilee
Fayre on Sunday June 3rd on the Memorial Playing Field. “Many
people have expressed an interest in helping to revive a summer fair on the
playing field and we thought it would be a great idea to combine it with the
Queen’s 60th Jubilee celebrations. We would like to give the fair
a traditional feel,” said Memorial Playing Field Trustees’ Chairman and
Hethersett Parish Councillor Simon Floyd. Attractions
already lined-up include a hog roast, homemade labyrinth, a herbal apothecary
stall, village stocks and a variety of village games. “We
are looking for people to help support the fayre in any way they can including
musicians, people running stalls, people dressing up and people prepared to
help set things up. The more the merrier,” Mr Floyd said. An
organising committee has been set-up and will be meeting again in February and
it is hoped that the fete will lead to the setting up of a Friends of the
Field group. “This
is the people’s fair and we want to make it an event to remember,” Simon
Floyd added. Offers
of help can be made to Memorial Playing Field secretary Peter Hoult on 01603
811337.
