Art Groups

 

Art and Craft Group - Meets Wednesdays during term times from 10 a.m to noon at the Methodist Schoolroom. Contact Tina Greenhalgh: 50 New Road: Tel 01603 810364.

 

Hethersett Aspiring Artists - Meet on Thursdays at 2 p.m in Hethersett Village Hall. Members use a variety of mediums with the aim of supporting and encouraging each other in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. There is a small library of books and videos for members' use and the group holds an annual exhibition in the village hall.

 

Hethersett Card Making Club - Usually meets second Sunday of each month (visit our What's On Section to check dates), Hethersett Village Hall 9.30 to 12.30. Further details from Sharon on 01603 507102

Brownies, Guides, Beavers and Scouts meet in the Scout and Guide Hut in Queen's Road.

Hethersett Jubilee Youth Club

Hethersett Jubilee Youth Club is in Back Lane virtually opposite the Village Hall. Meets on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m for School Years 5 and 6 and from 7 to 9 p.m for Years 7 to 9. There is also an out of school club on Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. For more information contact Gillian Saunders on 01953 607566.

Age Concern - Advice and information for the elderly

Bridge Club - Club meets every Thursday evening from 7 p.m until 9.30 p.m in Hethersett Social Club to play social rubber bridge. A friendly club it welcomes all levels of experience including beginners. Secretary Ian Talbot can be e-mailed by clicking here.

 

Choral Society - Choir meets Wednesdays at 8 p.m in the Barn at Old Hall School.

Cringleford and Hethersett Flower Club - Meets monthly on a Monday evening at 7.30 p.m in Hethersett Village Hall. For further information telephone chairman Sarah Pointer on 01603 622273 New members are always welcome.
 
Members fee is £25 pa or Visitors £5 per meeting - coffee and biscuits included!
 
There is either a NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies) demonstrator arranging flowers or a speaker talking about their life with flowers/plants.  The group also has a workshop once a year when members and visitors can have hands on experience in arranging flowers themselves.

Memory Matters Services - Woodcote Sheltered Housing Scheme hosts a Memory Matters Service on the last Thursday of every month between 11am and 3pm. Three organisations are working together to offer this service to people. Everyone is welcome. A number of professionals will be on hand to listen, advise and signpost you or your relatives etc in the right direction if you have concerns about memory problems.”

Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association: Meets four times a year top discuss sporting success, facilities and bring together fitness, sports, leisure and environmental groups. More information is available from chairman Peter Steward on 01603 811052,

Bowls: 

Hethersett Memorial Playing Field Bowls Club plays at 2.30 p.m on Wednesdays and Saturdays from May to September. Contact Mr R. Butcher on 813096.

Cycle Speedway: Hethersett Hawks ride on the Memorial Playing Field and the club meets Tuesdays at 6.30 p.m from April to October. Contact Mel Perkins on 811304.

Football: Hethersett Athletic Football Club runs sides for both sexes for all ages from seven to adult. Matches are played on the Memorial Field, Hethersett Old Hall School, Little Melton School and Easton College from September to April. Adult Education courses of family and adult classes take place at Hethersett Junior School and Old Hall School. Aquafit Monday and Friday mornings and Tuesday evenings.

Swans Swimming Club for children aged four and over meets at the Junior School on Wednesdays 6.30-8.30 p.m during term time and for adults on Thursdays 7.30-8.30 p.m during term times. Contact Rob Joy on 01362 851423.

 

GROUPS FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS

 

The Parent and Baby Clinic meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 2 p.m in the Methodist Hall. The group gives the opportunity to weigh babies and see a health visitor for advice and help. Contact Wymondham Health Visiting team on 01953 606201.

 

The Mother and Baby Group with the support of a health visitor meets on Fridays in term time between 10.15 and 11.45 a.m at the Church Hall in Henstead Road.

 

Chimes Pre-School Music Group meets in the Methodist Schoolroom during term time on Mondays between 10 and 10.30 a.m. Contact Liz Thetford on 811413.

 

First Steps for babies, toddlers and parents meets in the Village Hall, Back Lane, on Tuesdays and Fridays between 9.30 and 11 a.m. The group function for 50 weeks of the year with a two week break at Christmas. The Playgroup for ages 21/2 to 5 meets between 9.30 and 11.45 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays in the Methodist Church Hall. Ducklings Activity Group for ages 2 to 21/2 meets on Wednesdays between 1 and 2.30 p.m. Contact Mr Partner on 813171 or the secretary on 813467.
