Village Development - the Parish Council reply The following is a transcript of information that appeared in the September 2010 Hethersett Newsletter issued by Hethersett Parish Council. "Most residents will have received a copy of the Newsletter from Hethersett Land. Here follows a copy of the letter sent to the media from the Parish Council. Dear Editor The Parish Council would like to comment on the recent appearance in the village of a newsletter from a potential developer - Hethersett Land, which should not be confused with any official publication from the Parish Council. The newsletter gives the impression that the suggested area of development from this organisation is a fait accompli, a question of when rather than if. The newsletter has the potential to raise false hopes in the community for infrastructure that COULD be funded by the developer e.g New Library, Village Hall, Centre for the Elderly. Areas over which the developer has no direct control. The newsletter gives the impression that the developer is speaking on behalf of the whole community - there is no basis for this, rather some feedback from meetings that they arranged, ignoring feedback from another meeting that was against the proposed development. All of this is speculation at the moment with no decision on the Joint Core Strategy from the Greater Norwich Development Partnership, the South Norfolk consultation on Specific Sites for development about to begin and the abolition of the Regional Spatial Strategy by the Coalition Government. The Parish Council wishes to make it clear that if there is to be future development in the village, the debate needs to be based upon accurate and detailed information of what can actually be delivered.
