New Facilities Opened

Richard Bond, Steve Taylor, Les King and Aaron open the new facilities.

Fitness Express at Park Farm Hotel, Hethersett, has celebrated its coming of age in style by opening a new extension to its leisure centre and at the same time helping the environment.

Fitness Express was founded 26 years ago by two young entrepreneurs – Steve Taylor and Dave Courteen - and the leisure club at Park Farm was officially opened in December 1991.

The club celebrated its 21st birthday by opening a new extension which features a new spa pool. In addition the swimming pool hall has also been refurbished as part of the project. The work has also involved providing a carbon neutral biomass boiler system to heat not only the leisure club and swimming pool but also the hotel:

“The latest additions are part of our ongoing development at Park Farm and we are proud to be helping the environment as well as providing first class facilities,” said Park Farm General Manager Richard Bond.

Fitness Express currently has 30 clubs and 14 spa facilities throughout the country including Newcastle, Manchester, Southampton, East Anglia and London.

“We are proud that the company started in Norfolk. We are still a Norwich based company with our headquarters at Park Farm in Hethersett. We currently employ 400 people and at Park Farm have about 1,000 members,” company director Steve Taylor said.

One of those members – Les King from Wymondham – was on hand to cut the tape to officially open the new extension:

“I am honoured to be asked to open the new area. I know that Fitness Express is celebrated for its excellence throughout the country. The facilities here at Park Farm are first class and local people are lucky to have them on their doorstep,” he said.
