Hethersett Pensioners' Association Hethersett Pensioners' Association was formed in 1995 as a branch of the Norfolk and Norwich Pensioners Association to act as a pressure group in relation to those matters from national and local government which impinge on the lives of pensioners. Membership numbers have risen from around 30 in 1995 to over 80 in 2004. The Association also has an important social function. It meets on the afternoon of the first Monday in the month from September to June and generally manages to have a speaker to give a presentation on a topic of interest to pensioners. Light refreshments are served during the meeting. Funds are raised by having an annual subscription together with a small entrance fee to meetings. A raffle is held and always well supported. External activities in 2004 have seen members joining in the Council Tax Protest rally in Trafalgar Square followed by a march to Downing Street. Several members received Lottery funding to participate in the annual Pensioners' Parliament in Blackpool. A strawberry tea was also held in a member's garden. Another Council Tax Protest Rally is being held in London on October 2nd and bookings are being taken for seats on the bus. The association is looking forward to holding its usual Christmas lunch at Park Farm Hotel on 13th December. New members are always welcome, just turn up at the meetings and sample what goes on.
