PLAYERS MURDER MYSTERY EVENING JUNE 2009 If variety is the spice of life, then Hethersett Players
should be taking a bow. The group has been celebrating its tenth production with
something a little different. Having turned their hand to song and dance, variety
evenings, musicals, drama and comedy, they produced a murder mystery evening
over three nights in Hethersett Village Hall. A number of new cast members joined experienced old hands
in “More Deadly Than” by Claire Jones which centred around the murder of a
Women’s Institute member. All the audience had to do was guess the identity
of the murderer from clues given during the production. The Players wrestled manfully and womanfully with what
was a rather stodgy script, but the whole evening was meant to be
light-hearted with a different murderer on each of the three nights in order
to avoid collusion between audience members attending different performances. The play was directed by Sarah Wright who was assisted by
Lloyd Parfitt. Hethersett Players are already looking towards next year’s production which will be held in either June or July. This will take the form of a variety evening with fish and chip supper and including the comedy “The Fat Lady Sings in Little Grimley.” The group is always looking for new members to join both on and backstage.
