Runners-Up Award for Hethersett Hethersett
has been named runner-up in the Eastern Daily Press Pride in Norfolk Community
Awards for villages and towns with populations of over 5,000. Hethersett
won the award in 2006, but this year were just pipped by Aylsham. The
annual competition is organised by the EDP newspaper in conjunction with
Norfolk County Council. Hethersett
was praised by the judges for its attempts to bring a widely spread community
together. “The
initiatives of the Hethersett Environmental Action Team and the work of
schools have made a pleasant environment for residents,” said judge Susan
Warr who is chairman of the Norfolk Federation of Women’s Institutes. Chair
of Hethersett Parish Council Fred Watkins said: "This recognition is
appreciated and will give encouragement to those local people, groups and
schools who are working to improve our community. This autumn will see
new initiatives to provide facilities for young people in Hethersett and
further environmental improvements." |
