Including Sneaker Doo Dahs
When it comes to
food, Hethersett Ducklings know what they like. The pre-school
playgroup has produced its own cookbook containing favourite recipes
chosen either by the youngsters or their parents/guardians. The book includes
everything from boiled eggs and pasta to culinary delights such as
marshmallow and chocolate cake and Snicker Doo-Dahs. The books are
available at £3.50 each by contacting Helen Lawn on 01603 814133. The Ducklings
group, which meets weekday mornings from 9.10 a.m until 11.40 a.m, is
settling into new accommodation in the grounds of Woodside Infants’
School where it has been since Easter. The group
celebrated its 40th birthday last year when it moved to the new
two classroom venue which is also used by Woodside School for breakfast,
after school and extended school activities. Ducklings is run
separately to the main Woodside School complex and caters for children
from 30 months old up to four and a half. They also run an activity group
for children from 21 months to two and a half years on Wednesday
afternoons. “At present we
have 45 children on our register and can take a maximum of 20 each day
with a staff of four looking after them,” said playschool supervisor
Nicky Wardale. Ducklings is run
by a committee of parents who also fundraise. Recent fundraising events
have included a body shop party and the sale of tea towels. It is likely the
group will have some places available from September. Anybody interested
in finding out more details should contact registration secretary Lyn
Ottoway on 01603 812884. |
