Youngsters Celebrate in Style
Junior pupils from
Hethersett Old Hall School celebrated the Royal Wedding with a right Royal
Tea Party. Years three to six arrived at school dressed in red, white and
blue – one pupil was inventive with the Union Jack flag and made it into
a dress especially for the party.
With their flags held
high the boys and girls stood to sing the National Anthem before
assembling outside for their hat parade. Hats of all shapes and sizes were
made by the pupils over the Easter break, creations included a red, white
and blue tiered wedding cake, crowns and straw hats with red, white and
blue roses made from recycled carrier bags.
The garden, decorated
with original Coronation bunting used on the best dressed house in
Harleston 1953, was a hive of activity with egg and spoon races, musical
chairs and a scavenger hunt called ‘Harry’s lost the ring’!
Winners of the
competitions throughout the morning were given a commemorative mug of the
Royal Wedding, a major event in the children’s lives.
