Appeal for New Leaders
Hethersett scout group is
looking for new leaders and helpers from Easter. The 20 strong troop, which
currently meets at the Scouts and Guides headquarters in Queen’s Road on
Wednesday evenings, is looking for volunteers who enjoy working with young
people to take the place of the present leaders who are stepping down for
personal reasons. “We are looking for leaders and helpers who are prepared to give up a few hours every week. It is a very rewarding thing to do. The young people often start off being very shy and we see them develop into mature young adults,” said group scout leader Bernadette Ball who has herself been involved in scouting in Hethersett for over 21 years. Scouts are aged between ten-and-a-half and 14 and the troop is looking for outward going people and perhaps people who enjoy outdoor activities. Bernadette Ball emphasised that full training for volunteers would be given. Volunteers can be either male or female but must be over 18 years of age. Anybody interested in volunteering should contact Bernadette on 01603 811867. The First Hethersett Scout Group will be hosting this year’s South Norfolk St George’s Day celebrations on April 26th. Up to 800 scouts are expected to attend. A parade will take place from 2 p.m from Old Hall School to Hethersett High School where the celebrations will start at 2.20 p.m.
