September/October 2010 Shorts

Art and Craft

An art and craft fair is being held in Hethersett Methodist Church on 13th November from 10 a.m until 4 p.m. The event will include paintings as well as the sale of cards, gifts and cakes. Refreshments will be available throughout the event and there will also be hot soup lunches. Admission is free.

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning held in aid of MacMillans Cancer Support at Hethersett Hall raised.£467. The amount was raised from the sale of coffee and tea along with homemade cakes and a raffle. There was also a guess the weight of the cake competition.

School Quiz

The Friends of Hethersett High School and Science College are holding a quiz evening on 20th November in Hethersett Village Hall starting at 7.30 p.m.

Car Boot Sale

Hethersett Junior School PTA will be holding a car boot sale at the school on Sunday 21st November from 10 a.m until noon. 

Pitches can be booked by telephoning the school office on 01603 810498.

High Flyers

Guest speaker at the latest men’s breakfast at Hethersett Methodist Church was Mark Nash, area representative for the Mission Aviation Fellowship. 

He spoke about the relief and humanitarian Christian work undertaken by MAF in 35 countries throughout the world and particularly in remote African countries where fast action can be the difference between life or death

Funds Available

Hethersett Parish Council still has £5,000 available for recreational facilities in the village. 

The money is available from funds given to the council from previous land development and can be used for facilities or work relating to the provision, extension or improvement of indoor or outdoor physical recreational facilities or equipment. Anyone wishing to bid for the finds should contact Hethersett parish clerk Ian Weetman on 01603 810915

WEA Lectures

Rameses II and his times is the subject of a 10 week course organised by the Workers’ Educational Association at Hethersett High School starting on September 30th at 7.30 p.m. The course will look at Rameses II and his achievements and place them in the context of Egyptian history. The course fee is £44 and more information is available from Richard Aldridge on 01603 811303.

Garden Party

A garden party at the home of Neville and Tina Greenhalgh in New Road, Hethersett, raised £410 for Hethersett Methodist Church’s Development Fund. The afternoon social event included teas, cakes, stalls and games.
