Hethersett Cricket Club Success

Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club will be stepping into the unknown next season with two teams in the newly expanded Norfolk Alliance.

The club’s annual meeting heard that the first team will be playing in Division Three after winning promotion from the Norfolk League first division, with the seconds playing in the newly formed Division Six. The third team will continue playing in the Norfolk League.

Chairman Tony Smith reported on the “most successful season in the club’s history” and looked to a financially sound future. A new social committee was set-up to organise fund-raising events and Sean Barker was appointed to the new position of Director of Youth Cricket. Next season the club will be running youth teams at Under-11, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 levels. It was also reported that the two pitches at Flordon are in their best ever condition.

The club has also been invited to take part in the prestigious Carter Cup Knockout tournament and have been drawn at home to Bradfield in the first round. “It is an honour for us to be invited to take part and says much for the work put in to establish the club in Norfolk cricket,” said club secretary Richard Ellis.
