Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club Mid Norfolk Sunday League 2008 Hethersett and Tas Valley opened their Mid Norfolk Sunday League Division One campaign with a 13-run victory over Sprowston. Sprowston won the toss and put Hethersett into bat and the visitors scored 176-6 from their 40 overs with opener Carl Puttock hitting nine fours in his 62 and Matthew Ellis contributing an unbeaten 54. Sprowston fell short of the required run rate, scoring 163-9 from their 40 overs with Dave Cosford taking 5-28. This season Hethersett are also running a second Sunday League team in the Norfolk Sunday League Division Four and they opened their campaign with an emphatic 117 run victory over Bunwell. Hethersett batted first and scored a healthy 217-8 in their 40 overs with opener N. Hodds hitting 77. There were valuable contributions from Ross Jones (27), Dale Clarke (21), Alex Reeder (39) and Richard Ellis senior (14 not out). In reply, Bunwell were all out for 100 with Steven Beck taking 4-6. Hethersett and Tas Valley’s
Sunday sides suffered a double Mid Norfolk Sunday League defeat. The first team went down to
Stow by seven wickets in Division One and the seconds lost by 151 runs to
Costessey in Division Four. Stow won the toss and put
Hethersett into bat and they scored a respectable 213-6 in their 40 overs
with Matt Ellis hitting his second half century of the weekend with 57.
Brother Richard scored 43, N. Hodds 33 and promising youngster Jack Smith
21. The target proved too small,
however, as a strong Stow batting line-up made short work of things,
scoring 214-3 in 35.5 overs. All their wickets fell to spinner Asad Abbas
who took 3-43 from 10 overs. Edward Landymore hit an unbeaten 116. The second team struggled
against Costessey. Chasing a score of 214-7, they were all out for 63 in
34.3 overs with Tim Bolderstone top scoring with 19. Hethersett and Tas Valley lost to Stow by seven wickets in the

suffered a double reversal in Mid Norfolk Sunday League games at the
weekend. The first team went down by
six wickets to Dereham in Division One and the seconds lost by nine
wickets to Hardingham in Division Four. The firsts opened the batting
against Dereham but struggled to 130-9 from their 40 overs with only
opener Richard Ellis (55) and brother Matt Ellis (21) reaching double
figures. Dereham reached their target for the loss of four wickets with
over 12 overs to spare. Steven Beck was the pick of the Hethersett bowlers
with 3-31. The seconds were skittled out
for 64 in 22 overs by Hardingham with Jack Smith (16) and Phil Walmsley
(30) scoring the majority of their runs. Hardingham reached their target
in 10 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Hethersett and Tas Valley Seconds lost to Hardingham by nine

by seven wickets to Vauxhall Mallards in the Mid Norfolk Sunday League
Division One. Hethersett batted first and
scored 171-7 from 40 overs with solid contributions from Richard Ellis
(22), Nick Burrett (38) and Dave Cosford (32). Mallards reached their target
for the loss of just three wickets and with over 13 overs remaining. This
Sunday the team visit Fakenham. Hethersett and Tas Valley lost to Vauxhall Mallards by seven

Valley went down by 37 runs to Fakenham in the Mid Norfolk Sunday League
Division One. Hethersett won the
toss and put Fakenham in with the home side scoring at more than four runs
an over to finish on 187-5 from their 40 overs. Pick of the Hethersett
bowlers was Matt Steward with 2-48. Hethersett’s
reply was a rather stuttering affair with several players going cheaply
and only Richard Ellis (33), Nick Burrett (43), Tristan Hunt (23) and Matt
Steward (15) reaching double figures as they fell short of their target,
being all out for 150 after 38.2 overs. Hethersett and Tas Valley lost by 37 runs to Fakenham in the
Mid Norfolk Sunday League Division One. Fakenham

231-8 from their 40 overs with in form John Curtis hitting 61 and Richard
Ellis 56. Dereham were bowled out for 146 with Matt Ellis taking 3-20. The seconds went
down to Hardingham by seven wickets in Division Four. Hethersett 127-8
