Getting a Taste of the Internet Hethersett Library will be holding a
series of internet taster sessions in October, November and December
with a different theme for each one. On Saturday 27th October there
will be a chance for the public to enjoy an introduction into
researching family history online. On Saturday 10th November it
will be everyday online shopping with a session designed to teach how to
make everyday purchases such as groceries and toiletries. The final session on Saturday 8th
December will look at online shopping for Christmas and how to avoid the
crowds by buying for the festive season online. The sessions are designed to be free, fun
and informal, but those taking part will need to know the basics of
using a computer. Places are limited and can be booked by calling into
the library or on 01603 810188. The library’s next event will role back
the years to look at spam, snoek, eggless sponges, potato pastry and
other culinary delights from bygone days in a nostalgic trip through the
world of food and drink. This will take place on Saturday
September 8th from 2.30 until 4 p.m. Old photographs will be
available and cooking utensils on display. It is hoped that the event
will be able to add memories to the official Hethersett archive. This
is one of a series of events celebrating
local food and drink heritage taking place in Norfolk libraries
throughout September.
