Hethersett Take Wensum Cup Fan-Tastic Cup Victory - Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury July 24th
Hethersett and Tas Valley had a runaway victory to take their first silverware of the 2008 season with a comprehensive 130 run win over Reepham and Salle in the Wensum 20-20 Cup. Hethersett won the toss and elected to bat and amassed an impressive 161-6 from their 20 overs at well over a run a ball. Tim Shelley, Simon Redhead and Matt Ellis all retired not out after reaching 30 - one of the rules of the competition. Previous Rounds First Round Hethersett and Tas Valley coasted through the first round of the Midweek Wensum Cup 20-20 competition with a 143 run victory over Costessey. Spin
king Asad Abbas was once again the pick of the Hethersett bowlers as
Costessey, with only eight players, were bowled out for just 63 in 13.1
overs. Abbas took 4-10 from four overs including three wickets in four
balls. Hethersett will be expecting to meet tougher opposition as the

Cup quarter-finals. Hardingham notched 105-5 from their 20 overs with Jack
Smith and Matt Ellis both taking two wickets. Hethersett reached their
target after 16.3 overs for the loss of six wickets with Simon Redhead and

through to the final of the Wensum 20-20 Cup after a comfortable 45 run
semi-final victory over local rivals Great Melton Hethersett won the toss and
elected to bat, scoring an impressive 155-8 from their 20 overs at well
over a run a ball. Jack Smith (40) and Matt Steward (31) were both
unbeaten with the latter bludgeoning his way to five fours and a six. Some excellent bowling from
Lee King restricted Melton to 110-8 as he took 3-9 from four overs. Hethersett and Tas Valley beat Great Melton by 45 runs in the
