Volunteers Needed Hethersett and Meltons
Road Safety Committee is looking for additional members to enable it to
continue with its work to make local roads safe. The group has been in
place for a number of years and works with a number of agencies including
Norfolk County Council and local schools to promote road safety in the
villages and surrounding areas. Committee members have in the past identified important issues and problems as well as organising publicity and poster competitions in local schools.

* Hethersett Parish
Council is looking to set-up a team of volunteer Community Emergency
Co-ordinators to help with any major emergency occurring in the village. Writing in the latest
edition of the Hethersett Newsletter which is distributed to households
throughout the village the Parish Council states that volunteers will work in
partnership with South Norfolk District Council and the parish council to put
together an emergency plan. “The effects of most
emergencies can be efficiently dealt with by the professional emergency
services using the resources normally available to them. However, there is
always the possibility of a disaster of such large proportions that the
resources of the emergency services would require additional assistance from
people with local knowledge,” the newsletter states. Anyone interested in
volunteering for either or both of the above groups should contact Hethersett
parish clerk Ian Weetman on Norwich 810915
