New Writers' Group
A new writers’ group is being set-up in Hethersett.
The group, which will meet on the first Tuesday of
each month at 8 p.m, is the brainchild of local resident Pat Lightfoot
Pat moved to Hethersett from Norwich just over a year
ago and is keen to encourage local people to give vent to their artistic
“I am hoping that by starting a writers’ group,
keen writers can become more confident and enjoy sharing their work.
Ultimately we might get to the stage of publishing work. I am sure there
are many people with excellent ideas who would like to put them down on
paper or others who have already written material and just kept quiet
“I want the writers’ group to be informal, where
people are happy to share their skills and knowledge and come along with
written work which can be discussed in a friendly atmosphere. The idea of
starting a group came to me on a trip to India where I met and was
inspired by somebody who already belonged to a group,” said Pat who,
before her retirement, was Head of Learning Support at Langley School.
Pat feels that being part of a group will help her to
develop her own writing. She regularly produces stories for her
grandchildren but feels sharing her work with other like-minded people
will help her improve. She is currently writing a series of futuristic
stories based around the history of Norwich.
The new group will be open to all ages and will meet at Pat’s Hethersett home. Anybody interested in joining can e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
